This grab bag contains three (3) records from record dealer Joe Benson's Pop Up at Rappcats, March 2-3, 2024.
Mr. Benson is on his way back East, after spending this past weekend hosting his Record from Big Red pop up record shop at Rappacts. He will be doing what he was doing before - driving Tibetan monks around the country, buying records that appeal to him in every stop.
Before he left, he pulled aside a series of LP's to offer as grab bags sold here. These are a sampling of his surveys into digging across America for those who were not able to make the trek to L.A.
These are nearly all original records: a few are reissues (yes, that copy of Syl Johnson's 'Is It Because I'm Black' is the early 2000s, pre-Numero Group reissue). Some are great all-through listens. Many of them are full of samples and breakbeats - Mr. Benson and Egon annotated many of them on post it notes that come with the albums so in case you don't know where the breakbeat is on "Amen Brother" by the Winstons, well, you'll know.
The retail price of these records range from about $15 to $40 each, so each bag of three represents a nice value. Some of the records were priced due to condition, so don't expect EX to NM copies in all cases. Bottom line - if you’re curious, please be open minded.
And, unless something crazy happens, like the records are cracked or otherwise damaged, these are one-way sales, with no returns.
